Livan Needs to Go

On a quick note, you won’t find many game recaps on Twins Fix. Not only can you go anywhere to get recaps of what happened, but they are so monotonous! I will stick to providing my analysis on most games.

Once again, Hernandez was just short of brilliant. He out-dueled the struggling Brandon Webb, and allowed only one earned run through seven innings. While he is pitching well, and most fans are thinking to the future of Hernandez in a Twins uniform, I want him out.

It is time to get rid of our “ace”. Livan has done well for Minnesota, but we need to dump him on someone else and get what we can in return.

Hernandez is 7-4 for Minnesota, but has an incredibly bloated ERA of 5.51. It is times like these, when Livan is getting wins and preforming well, that we need to actively shop the right hander.

Francisco Liriano is sitting pretty over in Rochester, and has compiled some good starts. It is time to bring him up as soon as we can deal away Livan.

Game Thoughts – Min 5 Ari 3

Buscher is really starting to lose his mind, isn’t he? Through ten starts he has a .353 average, 12 RBI, and six runs. Although it was a little scary watching him play defense, he is really making a running as the third baseman of the future.

Although Brandon Webb has had two consecutive poor starts, he is still a great pitcher. You know your offense is really in a groove when they can grind out five runs on eight hits against him.

Even though Young’s error tonight in left field led to two Arizona runs, I am trying to ignore it. He still has a great arm and a total of eight outfield assists. With eight from Young, seven from Cuddyer (from both right and center field), and six from Gomez, this outfield is one of the best in the league from a defensive standpoint.

Cuddyer has three hits in two games since his wife gave birth to their first son on Thursday. He’s aiming to make his kid proud!

Minnesota will take tomorrow off before kicking off a three game series with the San Diego Padres. It is in southern California, so no DH, and the pitchers will bat. Yikes…

I hope some sucker from the NL can somehow take Livan off the Twins’ hands. Glad he is doing well only so he can provide some value to some teams.

  2. Andrew says:

I agree, thanks for the comment. If he goes to the NL, though, Minnesota won’t be able to rack up runs against him. :D And Livan could be a tight end in the NFL.

  3. Leslie says:

Anytime, Andrew. Thanks for linking Twins Killings, which I write for MVN.com, on your site. I enjoy reading your work.Livan can do well in the NL since there are not many good NL teams. The Phillies could use him. Even the Cubs could use him.

  4. Andrew says:

No problem. Thanks for the kind words.I have a feeling that Livan may just be the consolation prize for the team who doesn’t land Sabathia.

  5. Leslie says:

Erik Bedard could be another consolation prize. Of course, Bedard’s back spams is not helping Seattle right now.Livan needs to have at least five or six starts. Whether the Twins are in the race or not, he needs to go because he has no future with this team, and in the AL, he is going to get hit hard.Like the Twins, Livan should be fortunate that he faced the NL teams at the right time this week. Twins are lucky to be in the race, and Livan is lucky to face the NL teams, but their luck will run out.

  6. Andrew Vazzano says:

Please, Mets…don’t go near this guy.Please.
